Automobilmuseum Fichtelberg
The car museum in Fichtelberg was founded by the family Eckert in 1992. In the museum you can see over
200 exhibits, including bicycles, cars and planes. There is a very good restaurant where you can eat and drink
something.
Fichtelgebirgsmuseum Wunsiedel
The museum of the Fichtelgebirge is one of the most important museums in this region and is in a former old
people's home in the small town of Wunsiedel. The home was founded by the merchant and tin-plater
Sigmund Wann in 1451. You can see a mineral collection and an exhibition on the historical mining activities in
the Fichtelgebirge. There is a historic furniture collection and there are fumished rooms which give you an idea
of the cultural history of the area. Finally you can visit three museum workshops where traditional
craftsmanship is shown.
Porzellanikon
To the Porzellanikon belong four museums in two locations: Selb and Hohenberg a.d. Eger. They all cover an
area of 11.000 square miles and are dedicated to one subject: porcelain. Upper Franconia has been the most
important region for the porcelain in Europe since the invention of porcelain in Europe 300 years ago. You can
look at 12.000 porcelain objects and the museums present the history of porcelain. They also show you how

Open Air Museum Grassemann
Until the 19th century people lived in wooden buildings with shingle roofs in the Fichtelgebirge. Their home,
the cowshed and the barn were under on ridge. You can look at such a house in the open air museum. It was
built in 1698 and has been preserved until today.
The Egerland Cultural Centre
In the museum Egerland Cultural Centre you can look at keepsakes in memory of their native country of the
ethnic Germans who were expelied to Germany after the German defeat in World War II. Nearly 90,000
people had to leave their homes in Egerland and almost 800,000 the country of Eger. The Egerland is part of
the Czech Republic today.
Bauernhofmuseum Bergnersreuth
The museum in the small village of Bergnersreuth has existed since 1992. In 1908 two farms were joined and
new buildings were constructed. Today you can look at a typical farm of the first half of the 20th century.
