Sechsämtertropfen
In the 15th century six counties were created in “the Country before the Bohemian Forest" for which the
German name "Sechsämterland" has been used since then. Wunsiedel became the capital city of the
margraviate, which is the center of the Fichtelgebirge. It was the wealth of nature in this area which inspired
the pharmacist and distiller Gottlieb Vetter to develop a cordial at the end of the 19th century. After years of
preparatory work for a balanced formula, he could offer his herbal under the name Sechsämtertropfen for sale
in 1895. In the course of a century the product became known as a very good brand. Meanwhile, there are 3
different types of Sechsämter:
